Questions & Logistics
1. Attire
What’s the attire for the big event Saturday?
Formal Festival
Women — Fun, vibrant long dresses. Midi is fine as long as it looks fancy! We suggest thicker block heels or wedges as the venue is outside on grass… ladies leave your stilettos at home, they will sink into the soil.
Men — Suit jackets & pants.
Ok but what about “festival”? — Think colorful solids, sequins, patterns, fur coats, glam jewelry, cowboy hats, fun accessories… let your FABULOUS personality shine! Anything that you’ve ever thought was “too extra” or bold to wear to other weddings? Wear it to ours. This is the Martoca Met Gala baby!
What’s the attire for Friday’s welcome party?
Dressy Casual Vacation
Women — Nice maxi or cocktail dresses, dressy two piece sets, comfy wedges or cute sandals.
Men — Pants & short-sleeved button downs or guayaberas, closed toe shoes (no chanclas for guys).
Think White Lotus meets Mexico — classy tropical, nighttime beach club, jungle vibes.
What else should I pack?
Swimsuits
Coverup
Sandals
Walking shoes
Sunglasses
Beach attire
Fun accessories
Light coats (it can get chilly at night, think light fur coat)
Formal reception outfit (this will be the fanciest outfit)
2. Travel & Logistics
What dates should I plan to be there?
As a couple we will arrive on Thursday Feb 12th, celebrate the big day on Saturday Feb 14th, then check-out on Monday Feb 16th before heading to decompress at The W in Punta Mita. Note that Monday Feb 16th is the President’s Day holiday (which is why we chose this long weekend). We’d love for you to join us for as much as you can!
What’s the official schedule of events?
Thursday 2/12: Bride & Groom arrive in PV. Feel free to join us early for some extra quality time!
Friday 2/13:
Daytime: Optional round of golf for guests who arrive early, featuring discounted tee times at the Joe Finger Golf Course right behind the Marriott.
Nighttime: Welcome Fiesta at El Colibri Cocktail Bar.
Saturday 2/14: Ceremony & Reception at Martoca Beach Garden. We encourage guests to hang by the hotel pool with us prior!
Sunday 2/15: We will be renting cabanas at the hotel pool/beach to decompress during the day. For nighttime, we can walk around the Marina behind the hotel, or hang out at the hotel restaurants/bars.
How far is everything from the airport?
The airport code is PVR — the Marriott hotel is 7 min from the airport.
Will any transportation be provided Friday?
Yes! Shuttles will be provided to/from Friday’s venue (El Colibri) from the hotel (Marriott). Meet in the lobby by 5:30pm. It’s a ~20 min drive (5.4 miles away). If your flight arrives later, shuttles can come back to the hotel to pick you up! The event is from 6-9pm — shuttles will depart back to the hotel at 9pm, and maybe another later shuttle around 10-11pm if you want to bounce around the Centro area for a nightcap.
Venue Address: Morelos 582, Centro, 48300 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico
Will any transportation be provided Saturday?
Yes! Shuttles will be provided to/from Saturday’s venue (Martoca Beach Garden) from the hotel (Marriott). Meet in the lobby by 3:45pm. It’s a ~35 minute drive give or take depending on traffic. The ceremony will start at 5pm. If you choose to stay elsewhere, you will need to arrange your own Taxi/Uber to the venue and must ask that offsite guests arrive 15 minutes early. OR just be a cool kid and stay with everyone at the same hotel — trust us from experience, it’s the best way to go ;)
Venue Address: 834 Playa Los Picos, Bucerías, Nay. 63732, Mexico
What if I need to leave the reception early?
Shuttles back to the hotel will depart at 11pm and 12am. If you need to leave before then, you may call an Uber or the venue can help call you a Taxi.
How much are flights? What airlines fly to PVR?
Varies depending on origin. This is high season for PV, so we recommend setting a Google Flights price alert and booking your flights early to ensure you get the best price.
TEXAS: $300-900
Corpus Christi, TX: If you’re leaving from Corpus, you can drive to IAH / HOU for a direct flight —OR— you can fly directly out of CRP with a layover on American, United, or Southwest.
San Antonio, TX: Connecting flights on Southwest and American. VivaAerobus & Aeromexico are the Mexican airlines that operate out of San Antonio. NOTE: Viva has cancelled their SAT to PVR nonstop flight same-day before, so that’s something to keep in mind (Viva can be like Spirit Airlines sometimes.. lol)
Houston, TX: IAH & HOU both have nonstop flights to PVR on domestic airlines. VivaAerobus & Aeromexico operate connecting flights out of IAH as well.
Dallas, TX: American offers nonstop flights from DFW to PVR.
Austin, TX: Aeromexico operates out of AUS. There are also connecting flights on American, United, and Southwest.
CALIFORNIA: $150-800
San Diego, CA: $150-400. SoCal locals should fly out of Tijuana and use CBX to cross the border for a nonstop flight on Volaris or VivaAerobus. This will save you TONS of money!!
Los Angeles, CA: $300-800. Alaska, Delta, and American have nonstop flights from LAX.
San Francisco, CA: $300-800. Alaska and United have nonstop flights from SFO.
OTHER: Varies
Portland, OR: Alaska has a nonstop flight from PDX.
Seattle, WA: Alaska & Delta have nonstop flights from SEA.
Phoenix, AZ: American & Southwest have nonstop flights from PHX.
What’s with the room block?
We have held a room block at Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, which is where the wedding party & family will be staying. We’d LOVE for you to make your reservation here. We have seen firsthand how much more intimate destination weddings are when all guests stay at the same hotel — plus you get so much more than just the reception to hang out with the bride & groom.
If you plan to stay at the Marriott, DO NOT book through a 3rd party like Expedia as we have pre-negotiated a discounted group rate for our guests with additional perks. Please book using this special link provided in the Accommodations page.
NOTE for Marriott Bonvoy members — you’ll be able to input your info through our booking link, so you can get Bonvoy points for your stay.
I’m trying to book and it says no rooms available, help!
Kindly text the bride/groom and we will try to add more rooms to the block so that you can secure the discounted rate. However February is PV high season, so we cannot add more rooms to the block if the hotel sells out — please book your room as early as you can.
Does the hotel do all-inclusive?
Yes, you can upgrade to the all-inclusive plan upon check-in! This is completely optional.
I’m ballin on a budget, help!
We understand that weddings are expensive, no matter the destination. The hotel room block rate is nightly per room (maximum 4 people) — feel free to find some roommates to be more fiscally conscious!
NOTE that chartered transportation to/from the Friday & Saturday events will will only be from the Marriott — if you choose to stay offsite (we hope you won’t), you’ll need to coordinate your own transportation, or meet in the hotel lobby to take the shuttles.
Will I still be able to come to the hotel if I’m not staying there?
If you stay somewhere other than the Marriott, you must inform us in the RSVP comments. While the hotel sells “day passes” for offsite guests to access the pool, these are ~$95 and there are no guarantees these will be available as February is high season for PV, and the hotel may not have availability.
3. Mexico
What do I need to know about traveling to Mexico?
Your US Passport should be valid for at least 6 months prior to your travel dates.
You can bring Pesos, get them at the PVR Airport, or get them at any ATM in Mexico for a fee.
Drink bottled or filtered water ONLY — Mom… don’t eat the ice again!! - Lianna
Most locals in PV speak English. If not, use Google Translate on your phone to communicate!
If you get sick, there are tons of pharmacies nearby that can give you OTC and prescription meds. If you know the bride, you know she always carries Imodium, Tums, Tylenol, Zofran, and everything else. We will have all of these meds on deck for you just in case.
What’s the weather gonna be like?
February in Puerto Vallarta usually sees a high of 80 and low of 62. It’s one of the best months to visit because of the perfect weather.
4. Other
Can I bring my kids?
We kindly ask that you leave kiddos under 17 at home. If you can’t, let us know and we can ask the hotel/planner if they know of any childcare services so you can attend the Friday & Saturday events as those are adults-only.
Can I bring a guest?
Since we want our celebration to remain intimate, we unfortunately cannot accommodate guests/plus-ones beyond those named on your invitation envelope. The reality is that we’re working with a set budget and venue capacity. We understand that some may feel uncomfortable traveling solo, or maybe your relationship got serious after receiving your invitation — please reach out to us so we can navigate those scenarios together.
Will there be somewhere to relax if I feel sick or overwhelmed at the reception venue?
Yes! There will be plenty of outdoor couches for you to relax on. You may also use the bridal suite if you need even less stimulation. There will be baskets of medicines & necessities in the bathrooms at the venue if you start to feel sick.
I have a dietary restriction, can you accommodate?
Yes! Make note of your restriction and/or allergy in the RSVP form. Saturday reception entree options will include Beef, Fish, or Vegan. Late night snack will be tacos & churros.
When do I need to RSVP by?
Complete the RSVP form and let us know your plans no later than November 15th.
Who do I contact if I still need help?
Text the bride at 361-510-4669 or the groom at 619-756-2163. We’re here to help our guests however we can to ensure everything is as smooth as possible for y’all — seriously, don’t hesitate to reach out if you want outfit advice, need help with travel plans, have troubles with the RSVP form, or whatever it may be. We will also be setting up a WhatsApp group ahead of time to coordinate announcements and comms while onsite in Mexico.
We truly cannot wait to celebrate with you!!
